The Well-Lit Dark Age

There really never was a “Dark Age”, but the concept of a time of ignorance and cruelty is well engrained in modern culture, so it is a useful metaphor.

Unregulated Capitalism has ushered in levels of poverty, homelessness, suicide, wealth inequality, mass migration and despair unparalleled since the great depression and WWII. The world is also embroiled in many wars, large and small. The US and NATO are pressing a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine that continues for the third year. Israel is in the process of committing ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Palestinian people with the solid support of the United States. The world is fracturing into distinct international trading blocs as the West imposes sanctions and coups against leftist and non-compliant countries as standard operating procedure. We are in the midst of a New Dark Age, but one that is very well lit; one that is visible to all. The genocide being perpetrated by the US and Israel in Gaza is livestreamed, the US proxy war against Russia in Ukraine is livestreamed, the illegal bombing of Yemen is immediately posted on Truth Social; it is all there for anyone to see who wishes to.

What makes our times so dark and foreboding is the power that money has given to a relatively small group of unscrupulous people who now control the world, in many cases independent of and superseding national governments. The billionaires are at the root of our new dark age, just as the wealthy have always been at the root of societal problems in times past.

Capitalism, as it is now practiced, is based solely on personal acquisition. The credo is “greed is good”. The purpose of declaring greed as a virtue is to deny the actual virtues any value. The elimination of human virtue and human morality is the primary prerequisite for unregulated capitalism to function as it does.

Can the current form of unregulated, gambling casino capitalism act morally? Can a belief system that puts personal acquisition at the forefront of human activity ever persuade people to behave morally? Based on how capitalism operates currently, and the how things have turned out as a result, the answer is an emphatic no.

Any Dark Age needs to be fueled by ignorance. The Blob ensures ignorance by constantly sowing doubt and fomenting and maintaining the “Dunning-Kruger effect” amongst the population. The Dunning-Kruger effect is where people with no knowledge of a subject other than hearing a few quips from a friend or the nightly news think they know much more about the subject than they actually do. This allows people to dismiss factual information about the subject if it does not conform to their original notions. Fueling the Dunning-Kruger effect by spreading false accusations or claims is the perfect way for The Blob to prevent the public from understanding what is being done to them. The Corporate-Owned-News has been controlled by The Blob since at least the 1950s, and this control is so complete now that most Americans have no idea what the US is actually doing across the globe.

In the US since 2001, the US presidency has been turned into a neo-monarchy where the president has almost unlimited powers and Congress is reduced to an irrelevant side-show that shuns their constitutional mandates. They call this the “Unitary Presidency” as Dick Cheney liked to think of it. Now we have a president with no knowledge of human history, international relations, or even basic governmental functions, who has almost unlimited power due to the feckless irrelevance of congress. The president can simply declare an emergency to give himself even more sweeping powers. Trump can start a war without congress, as he did in Yemen. Trump can impose international tariffs on any country without reason, and then end them with a flip of his pen. The president can shut down whole sections of the government without cause, and there is little anyone can do about it as long as congress and the courts do nothing. The president can order mass deportation of immigrants without due process, and the president can apparently now ignore court orders with impunity. None of it is hidden from public view, it is there for all to see on the evening news; truly a well-lit dark age.

How did we get here? I think the pivotal moment was when Allen Dulles, the CIA and Mossad plotted a coup in the US and assassinated John F. Kennedy in 1963. We have been living in that coup regime ever since, and the unwavering policies of the US over the last 6 decades show just how complete The Blob’s control over us has become. Now that we know that Lee Harvey Oswald was part of the CIA operation known as “Operation Red Cap”, we know that he worked for the CIA well before the assassination plot was hatched. Oswald was the patsy, as he famously said before he was also assassinated. Until the US publicly deals with the fact that the CIA killed a sitting president to prevent peace talks, and then covered it up completely, nothing is going to get better in this country. Our foreign policy is still run in large part by the organization that assassinated our president, and that is clearly not going to turn out well in the long run unless something is done to hold the CIA to account. If the CIA is not completely reorganized or shut down, nothing will change. Before his assassination, JFK said he wanted to shatter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds. If only he had been able to before they killed him, we would be living in a much better world.

The well-lit dark age will not be ended by either political party as the Red and Blue Teams in the US are wholly owned subsidiaries of The Blob. It is far more likely that major blunders by the feckless leaders such as Trump and Biden will hasten the decline and usher in a culmination of the fateful end of this corrupted and counterproductive dark age. Whether that turns out to be a world-wide depression, or even another world war, is anyone’s guess at this point. It is impossible to predict what ignorant and corrupt people in power will do when pushed into a corner. So we will just have to wait for precipitating events to unfold as the wealthy elites and their government servants make one blunder after another trying to save their kingdom from its inevitable downfall.

The downfall will be televised, and very well lit
