Some people resist absorption by The Blob, and some go willingly. Joe Biden is a long-time and eager assimilant of The Blob. I somehow envision, after his absorption, he became lodged somewhere near the salivary glands where he could assist in the digestion of more recently consumed victims. After passing through the bile and spleen, Joe Biden ended up taking final residence as The Blob’s mouthpiece, otherwise known as the President of the United States. In a way, this brought him right back into the company of his old friends, the salivary glands. This anatomical analogy brings us to Joe Biden’s consummatory role in The Blob’s ongoing attempted assimilation of the Ukraine into its sphere of domination.
Joe Biden has been up to his eyeballs in Ukraine meddling for many years, and we are now getting to see ever more clearly how poor his judgment is, and how equally poor is the counsel of his advisors. After the US spent decades outright invading other countries including Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and others, the US has managed (for the second time) to bait Russia into a war. Don’t forget, that last time the US did this was the Russian war in Afghanistan, where the eventual blowback was 9/11. Who knows what the future blowback will be from this new proxy war. All of these unpleasantries have the Corporate Owned News in overdrive, trying to assuage the public’s concerns about the negative consequences. The primary rhetorical weapon used by the Corporate Owned News is vilification of the other, and hence you have witnessed all the extreme Russia bashing. With the Corporate Owned News’ inexorable campaign to vilify Russia becoming ever more shrill, you have to wonder, at what point will the public begin to start wondering “are they shitting me?”
Yes, they are.
For the Corporate Owned News the sequence of events in the Ukraine was:
Russia, under the despotic tyrant Putin, invades Ukraine in an unprovoked brutal assault on Democracy, heralding his relentless push to take over all of Europe.
The actual sequence of relevant events was:
The US stokes and supports right-wing Ukrainian groups to overthrow the elected government of Ukraine in 2014, with Joe Biden intimately involved as vice president under Obama
The coup orchestrated by the US leads to installation of a US-backed, right wing, anti-Russia regime in Ukraine, right on Russia’s border
Biden, as vice president, installs his son Hunter on the board of largest gas company in Ukraine and also has the prosecutor investigating the gas company’s corruption fired
The US, under Obama and Biden, ships arms to the Ukrainian government, trains Ukrainian fighters to fight Russia, and makes Ukraine a de facto member of NATO
Eastern Ukraine is made up of Russian speaking people who identify as Russian and who did not believe that the US-installed government was legitimate
Eastern Ukrainians decide to form semi-independent provinces, and therefore became “the separatists”
US-backed western Ukrainian government sends its military to attack Russian-speaking separatists in eastern Ukraine starting an 8 year civil war in the east
Russia, the Ukrainian government and the separatists in eastern Ukraine sign the Minsk II agreement and agree to a cease fire
Western, US-backed Ukrainian government ignores agreement and continues shelling and attacking the separatist regions of eastern Ukraine
US-backed Ukrainian government builds massive military fortifications in eastern Ukraine in anticipation of Russian involvement and moves more army units to attack the eastern Ukrainian separatists
Biden becomes president of the United States and eggs Russia on by pumping more arms and training into Ukraine
Russia repeatedly asks all parties to the Minsk II agreement to abide by them, but the US and Ukraine ignore the requests
Russia invades Ukraine to stop the assault on Russian-speaking separatists in eastern Ukraine and claims the goals are to protect the eastern Ukrainian provinces and demilitarize and de-Nazify Ukraine.
So there you have the two stories you will hear about the war in Ukraine, the absurd story where almost everything of importance is omitted, versus the actual sequence of events. In fact, I left a lot of the important details out of the actual story, because I didn’t want to write a book. But you get the idea.
Lying by omission is a staple of modern Corporate Owned News.
There is nothing more central to the function of Corporate Owned News than omission. Murderers can be made into victims by selective omission of facts. Police brutality can be turned into heroism. Wars of aggression can be turned into defense of democracy. All you need to do is to leave out the context and a few carefully selected facts and voila, you have a story that turns the perpetrator into the victim, or the crime into justice.
The best part for the government and their friends running the Corporate Owned News is that you usually don’t have to directly lie. You don’t have to say anything that is obviously false on its face. You say multiple things that are technically correct, but give a totally false impression of what actually transpired. So your lie is in the totality of what you have said, not in any specific statement. This type of lie is not easily detected by most people if they don’t know the history or background of the situation. The Corporate Owned News, who are on the front lines of the “information war”, know this very well, and exploit it when they lie by omission. They know that unless people have followed the history of a situation they won’t detect what could be called a “context-deficiency lie”. In fact, context-deficiency lies have been a staple of the ruling elite for millennia. The Blob is sustained and propelled by context-deficiency lies. People need to not just understand this; but to also incorporate it into how they think about what our country does and why it does it. People need to think about why our government claims that other countries are such a threat to us, in the absence of any evidence. Why our military has to be so large, and has to be spread all across the globe. Why the largest military force in the history of the human species has to stay in remote, impoverished countries for decades without any military success or helpful outcome. Why we threaten our economic trading partners with military aggression. Why building hundreds of new nuclear weapons that can’t be used is more important than universal health care for the American people. But you won’t hear any those details because they are the niggling little facts that simply got selectively omitted by the Corporate Owned News.
Getting back to Biden’s proxy war in Ukraine, it is very clear that the Biden administration chose the wrong country to carry out a war with Russia. The Ukraine was chosen strictly on geographical grounds, but it is almost certainly the most corrupt country in all of Europe and is totally incapable of sustaining a prolonged war against Russia. The only reasons the Ukrainian army has lasted this long is that The Blob has sent billions of dollars’ worth of weapons, along with vast amounts of training, logistical support and intelligence to Ukraine, plus the fact that Russia is trying to limit casualties and is therefore proceeding slowly and methodically. If all of those billions of dollars’ worth of US and NATO weaponry actually got to the front lines of the war, things would probably be going a little bit better for the Ukrainian army. But much of it ends up on the black market, along with medical supplies and ammunition. The people in charge in Ukraine are taking the weapons and supplies and selling them for personal profit. That’s typically what happens when you give lots of free, expensive stuff to crooks. Don’t just think “your tax dollars at work”, think “your tax dollars going into the hands of criminal gangs and terrorists in the form of advanced weaponry”. That’s a bit more like it.
On top of that, you get the massive price spikes around the world caused by, yes, you guessed it, the Biden administration’s pitiful attempts to harm the Russian economy by preventing Russia from exporting essential products to the west. The Blob’s Corporate Owned News buddies tell you that the ensuing inflation is all Putin’s fault, but of course, Putin didn’t implement the sanctions that caused the price spikes, Joe Biden did. I’m sure Joe didn’t have any other choice, right? He just had to do something to hurt the Russians, didn’t he?
Actually, no, he didn’t need to impose the sanctions, unless of course his intent all along was to try to hurt Russia, no matter how much death and destruction it caused for Ukraine, or how much suffering it caused through price spikes around the world. Obviously, if Joe Biden wanted peace he could have it tomorrow, simply by getting Ukraine and Russia back to the negotiation table. I find it interesting that some people think that by prolonging an unwinnable war you are helping the losers. It is much more likely that the end result will be more death and destruction before the final Ukraine defeat. Not sure why that sounds good to anyone, except weapons manufacturers.
Getting back to Joe Biden as the newly instituted mouthpiece of The Blob, it is interesting how little you see him out in public supporting the war effort he helped so much to bring about. Not to worry, there are plenty of other operatives of The Blob in the Corporate Owned News that can take up the slack. You can tune in day or night to hear how evil Russia is, and how noble the Ukrainians are. But in the end, the story will turn out just as everyone in Washington knew it would, with Ukraine surrendering and agreeing to a peace deal with Russia that acknowledges the independence of the eastern Ukrainian provinces. Russia won’t be hurt nearly as much as Europe will be, and in the long run, Russia will come out better from this than the US will. Russia and China, along with India and others, will continue to form a new trading block that excludes NATO countries. They will become stronger, and the US and its NATO allies will become weaker. In several years I think it will be terribly obvious to just about everyone what a total disaster Biden’s proxy war turned out to be. Americans will get nothing from it other than higher prices and higher taxes. But Biden’s plans for his proxy war did not even take the American public into consideration. Details like that just aren’t of concern to The Blob.
It almost seems sometimes like the US is cursed by believing its own lies. The US government has lied to the public so often, that the warhawks in charge now seem believe their own propaganda simply through the process of endless repetition. "The Russian attack was unprovoked", "the sanctions will crush Russia's economy", "the entire world is standing with NATO and Ukraine", "superior US weaponry will destroy the Russian army". But underneath, none of these were even close to assured, and in fact I believe that this proxy war was a test. It was a test to see if Russia could be baited into a war, a test of newer weapons and surveillance systems in the field, and a test of Russian vs. NATO tactics. It was a test of how well mass propaganda could persuade the US and European public to go along with yet another war. It was also a test to see how well sanctions would work to harm Russia. In every case, the answers have proven that the US is damn lucky it did a small test run in eastern Ukraine rather than a full scale war.
Of course there is another possible outcome to this conflict, where a nuclear accident leads to an even greater disaster. This seems to be getting more likely every day now with the repeated shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant by Ukrainian forces. Russia captured the nuclear facility some time back, and has troops securing the facility. The power plant has come under repeated artillery attacks and Ukraine has claimed that Russia is responsible, in which case it would be an example of Russia attacking its own troops. But of course the western Corporate Owned News dutifully reports that Ukraine claims that Russia is shelling the nuclear plant. I guess Russia must be shooting their artillery straight up, so it falls right back on themselves.
The Biden administration is proving to be the most belligerent and dangerous of my lifetime. Never has the US been on the brink of war with Russia and China simultaneously, while also being involved in numerous smaller military engagements around the globe. Not a single one of the countries that our military is engaged in directly or by proxy has attacked or threatened the US. In every case the US is the belligerent, even in the case of Ukraine, where we have tried so hard to ramrod them into NATO knowing that it would probably lead to war.
Currently, Ukraine is still lodged in The Blob’s mouth, in the pre-digestive stage, but Ukrainian officials know that the western Corporate Owned News will regurgitate whatever Ukraine claims, and this story about Russia shelling the nuclear power plant occupied by Russian soldiers pretty much proves the Ukrainian officials right.
The Blob has been salivating over Ukraine for a long time, and now it has its fangs sunk in and it is swallowing voraciously. Russia has got eastern Ukraine by its feet, and is pulling as hard as it can to wrest Ukraine from its impending absorption. Joe Biden is cheering on his old friends the salivary glands while waving the Ukrainian flag. The inevitable outcome will be that Ukraine is torn apart in Joe Biden’s totally avoidable tug-of-war with Russia.
John:
First time visit for me; saw your remarks over @ MoA, and followed your link. Your essays are well-written, and your years as an observer of politics and media are bearing fruit.
One of the things I find interesting is the gang-like behavior of the Blob. While both Russia and China have exhibited plenty of gang behaviors, they both seem to be evolving away from gang-turf warfare and into regional cooperation across gang turf zones. (the various nations of SCO, for ex).
Putin, if you believe the rhetoric, is trained as an attorney, and goes to great pains to remain within the confines of international law. Another example.
How is it that Russia and China seem to be traversing a fairly different branch of the tree than we are?
Separately....
Are you doing any thinking about bottom-up economic development? Top-down is owned by the Blob, and unless we want to remain trapped on the Stupid Train, we (the little people) are going to need a fundamentally different strategy than just complaining / chronicling our demise out here on the margins of the media space.
A brilliant analysis, John; but it is clear that Joe Biden is not a competent mouthpiece for Susan Rice, let alone the Blob. He is clearly the sphincter, out of which the waste products of the New World Order spray.
You didn't leave China out of the discussion; but China will clearly end up being the champion of this worldwide chess match. All of its pieces are held in reserve, waiting for the moment its ally Russia asks for them.
As Obama's hero Jeremiah Wright said years ago, America's chickens are coming home to roost.
